Not a Joy with Service Champions Feb 25, 2025

My wife and I have lived in Naglee Park in San Jose since 2002. When our attic furnace gave out in 2015, we contracted Service Champions to install a new furnace. Not only was that furnace built a number of years earlier, but a couple of the Service Champions staff who did the follow-up inspections of our HVAC system were not only unprofessional but actually connected some of the wiring incorrectly, which to their credit was finally repaired. When the original air conditioner gave out in 2021, we inquired at Service Champions about a replacement; the price they quoted seemed excessive, so we contacted Pelle - a family-owned HVAC company, and not only did they have a carrier model but it was exactly the slim version we needed for our space and at a fraction of the cost. Since then, Pelle has done the inspections of both our AC and furnace, and everyone from that company with whom we have dealt has been professional, highly competent, friendly, communicative, and an absolute joy. When our furnace gives up the ghost, we will definitely call Pelle for the replacement. It pays to deal with a smaller, family-run company like Pelle rather than a huge, corporate company if you want the type of service we all desire. Pelle Heating & Air Conditioning is a fantastic company with excellent customer service. They've installed both a new furnace & AC unit at a condo we had, and also just replaced our older furnace with a new heat pump/AC combined unit at our current house. Their customer service is excellent; they responded very quickly to two issues we had and fixed them promptly. It's hard to find companies that you can trust to do good work and come back to fix any issues that may arise. Pelle is just that company, and I've already referred them to two neighbors.

We are impressed with the professionalism and timeliness of everyone we interacted with, from Steve's initial visit for the quote to the final installation by Jeff, Charles, and the rest of the crew. Everyone was polite and the work was completed on schedule. We did have a couple of minor issues initially – one with the upstairs heating and another with the thermostat blowing cold air. However, Steve and Charles were both very responsive in addressing these concerns. We're now happy with the system's performance and are looking forward to seeing how it does this winter. While we initially planned to replace only the furnace, we ultimately decided to go with the A/C and dual heat pump + furnace system. We understand this was a larger investment than we originally anticipated, but we're hopeful (fingers crossed) that it will pay off in the long run. We appreciate the excellent service we've received so far and are confident that if any further issues arise, Pelle will continue to handle them in a positive and professional manner.

Steve Pelle scheduled a visit with us shortly after our call to come out and consult on the replacement of 33-year-old Carrier heat and air units. He was prompt, courteous, and made many positive recommendations we had not considered, along with giving us an extremely reasonable quote compared to others we had been given. As we wanted to stay with a gas heater, he let us know that they were no longer being made, but he did have year-old, brand-new heaters in stock... thank heaven. The appointment was made quickly, and the installers were very timely, quick, and efficient with their work - and courteous. We could not be more pleased and have scheduled the annual service visits for maintenance as well. I highly recommend this company with no hesitation whatsoever. The whole process was smooth from start to finish.

The experience was great. The guys who came out to install were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We have a two-story home and therefore had an AC/heater unit installed on each floor. They crawled under the house and climbed into the attic spaces and were able to install both units. It only took two days.

Pelle is an amazing company and I would have no hesitation recommending them to others to work with for their heating or cooling needs. My project was very complex and operated on a timeline that Pelle accommodated, but in reality, no reasonable business should have been expected to accommodate. They installed a 5-zone Mitsubishi mini-split system at my home in San Jose. Since I was undergoing a whole house remodel at the time, they were able to work with my contractor to install part of the system before the drywall went up and once the remodel was near finished, they were able to wrap up the rest of the project. Not only was their installation top-notch, their customer service after the system went live was also impressive. Like any mechanical system, some things may not work quite right out of the box, and they have been amazing with responding to questions and providing follow-up visits to optimize my system. My wife, who loves an air-conditioned home, is appreciative of the service, so thank you!
